High-quality research and evaluation are essential for understanding context, generating evidence, measuring impact, and informing effective decision-making. We support NGOs, UN agencies, CSOs/SBOs, donors, and development actors in Afghanistan to design, implement, and manage rigorous research studies and evaluations that strengthen programming, improve accountability, and support evidence-based policy and practice. Our work is designed to help organizations better understand the environments in which they operate, assess the effectiveness of interventions, identify emerging needs and risks, and demonstrate results for learning, visibility, funding, and sustainable growth.
We design and manage both single-year and multi-year research and evaluation initiatives from concept to completion, using robust, context-sensitive, and operationally feasible methodologies tailored to Afghanistan’s diverse and complex environment. Whether supporting humanitarian, development, stabilization, resilience, livelihoods, education, health, protection, governance, gender, climate, or economic recovery programming, we generate reliable and actionable evidence that reflects both data and on-the-ground realities.
We apply mixed-method and state-of-the-art research and evaluation approaches, including surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, direct observation, participatory methods, perception studies, case studies, longitudinal tracking, rapid assessments, and comparative analyses. Depending on objectives and feasibility, we utilize strength-based and innovative approaches such as
community-based participatory research, utilization-focused evaluation, developmental evaluation, rapid-cycle learning and testing, outcome harvesting, contribution analysis, systems thinking, and human-centered design to support adaptive and evidence-informed programming.
Our work triangulates findings with operational realities, stakeholder perspectives, and contextual dynamics to ensure evidence is reliable, meaningful, and actionable. We place strong emphasis on data quality, ethical data collection, safeguarding, contextual sensitivity, and inclusive engagement of women, youth, vulnerable groups, local organizations, and communities to strengthen the validity and usefulness of findings.
We also conduct end-to-end field-based research and data collection on behalf of organizations, including in remote, underserved, and highly restricted areas across Afghanistan. Through established local networks, contextual understanding, and experienced field teams, we are able to collect reliable quantitative and qualitative data in complex environments while maintaining strong standards for quality assurance, data verification, confidentiality, and ethical research practices.
